Dr Jane and Yvonne Leventson

Cre8tiv studios, located at 27 Atchison Street, St Leonards is the newest artist studio space to open within the TWT Creative Precinct and will be managed by local artist, Yvonne Levenston

Yvonne Levenston’s artwork discusses the fragility of the global ecosystems, consumerism and man’s footprint – raising questions about issues of human, animal justice and social values throughout time.

Through Yvonne’s practice of printmaking, painting and sculpture, she enjoys pushing the boundaries of traditional techniques to achieve a unique and individual narrative that explores and engages evolution, history, memory and endangered species.

For the past 5yrs Yvonne has been working at May Street Studios in St Peters, she has also been managed the 30+ studios & gallery.

Yvonne has won a selection of awards and has been exhibited independently in over 38 group shows. A career highlight for Yvonne was curating and exhibiting a show for British primatologist, ethologist, anthropologist, and UN Messenger of Peace, Dr Jane Goodall in 2011. Goodall, who is considered to be the world’s foremost expert on chimpanzees, personally opened the exhibition and Yvonne has met with her on multiple occasions since.

In 2011, Yvonne travelled to Tasikoki Wildlife Rescue Centre, North Sulawesi on a residency where she met world renowned conservationist, Dr Willie Smits. In 2012 Yvonne was selected to exhibit at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick and awarded a 2013 Artstart Grant from The Australia Council.

Multiple articles have been written about Yvonne’s work and related fundraising efforts for endangered species. She has also been a guest speaker and provided artist talks for Art Societies and Schools. Yvonne’s work currently sits in private art collections in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, New York, Toronto, Bermuda and China.

Yvonne’s background is in Graphic and Exhibition Design. She did a brief stint in the corporate world before returning to full time study in Fine Arts at the Sydney Gallery School majoring in print making and also work on canvas in acrylic, ink & charcoal as well as sculpture, assemblage and photography.

Yvonne’s work is regularly selected for environmental and animal welfare charity Silent Auctions, such as Sydney University Veterinary Science Foundation, Jane Goodall Institute Australia, Taronga Zoo Foundation, BOS and Black Horse Foundation.

Yvonne’s recent exhibition was at The Downing Centre in Sydney where numerous pieces were sold to local and International collectors. Yvonne’s work will also be on display at Platform72, another gallery space located in the TWT Creative Precinct.
