Currently she is studying a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts, Sydney, Australia. She has also taught ceramics in Dubai and Australia. Whilst in Dubai she participated in many group exhibitions and in Australia she has participated in trade displays and founded her own ceramics business Sahar Pottery. Sahar has an interest in creating contemporary ceramic forms that negate notions of utilitarian function and form. Her works are deeply connected to Persian poetry and Sufi mysticism.

About the Workshop – Design your own Teapot

The serving of ‘tea’ has deep traditions in many cultures around the world. In Iran in particular, serving tea is associated with social and familial gatherings. Iranian tea is brewed with spices in a Samavar and served with sweets to welcome guest and in between meals. In this 3 hour workshop participants will design their own one of a kind teapot. Participants will learn the basics of painting on ceramics using under glaze colours and transfer techniques. Sahar will bring some classic designs with her, alternatively participants can also bring their own ideas with them.

On completion the teapot will be taken to Sahar’s studio for firing at 1000ºc and can be picked up from the Cre8tiv Studios on Saturday 14th November at 11am, postage option available on request for an extra $10 P&H fee.

Teapots will be dishwasher, microwave and food safe.

All materials are included in the ticket price.
