“It is with great pleasure that we welcome PLATFORM72 to the TWT Creative Precinct; its unique brand of creative retail and innovative in-home art consultation service will bring some of Australia’s leading contemporary artists to St Leonards and provide an opportunity for the local community to encounter contemporary Australian art in very a dynamic and accessible way,” Mr Winter said.

“Over the next 12 to 18 months, the local community of St Leonards will be given the opportunity to take part in various art activations and will see a Creative Precinct take shape in the streets of Atchison and Chandos Street as well as surrounding laneways, culminating in a laneway festival which we’re working towards holding in November.”

The new Atchison Street venue will be PLATFORM72’s third Sydney showroom and will also act as the base for their in-home art consultation service, dubbed ‘the art gallery that comes to you’.

Customers can book private one-one-one art consultations at their home, office or the St Leonards showroom, to explore the range of works with an experienced art curator who will walk them through the art-buying process and assist them in finding the perfect artwork that suits their taste, budget and space.

Customers can select from PLATFORM72’s huge range of contemporary artworks on display at the showroom and online. They currently have over 80 contemporary Australian artists on their books with prices ranging from $5 to $15,000.

PLATFORM72 at St Leonards will also host bi-annual exhibitions in their upstairs gallery which will be open to the public.

PLATFORM72 Director, Juliet Rosser, said she was delighted to be opening her third Sydney venture within the TWT Creative Precinct.

“PLATFORM72 at St Leonards will be our first venture on the north shore and our largest showroom and gallery space to date. We’re really looking forward to bringing PLATFORM72’s eclectic collection of artworks to St Leonards and providing a personal art buying experience that allows people to engage with contemporary art in an enjoyable and convenient way that suits their individual needs.

“I love introducing people to the joy of living with and engaging with art and artists. I believe art should be acquired from the heart and if it becomes an investment even better but should never be purchased with the resale value in mind.

“We’re incredibly grateful to TWT for temporarily subsidizing all this wonderful space to the arts community– the lack of affordable space is the biggest challenge we face as an independent gallery, especially one that aims to be accessible and affordable, so for us, this is a partnership made in heaven.” Ms Rosser said

TWT General Manager, Stephen Fitzpatrick said there’s a real buzz in the air in St Leonards at the moment; under the creative direction of Brand X, some of Sydney’s most innovative creative minds are pooling together to activate the next stage of the Creative Precinct.

“TWT is very exciting to see the next art activations unfold. Hopefully the local community comes along to each and really gets involved as some of these artists are incredibly talented,” he said.

PLATFORM72’s COLLECTIONS Exhibition follows a string of successful creative initiatives orchestrated by TWT such as the opening of the T1 Art Terminal, a permanent new gallery for St Leonards located at 9-11 Atchison Street, that launched in February 2014 with its inaugural exhibition, DEGENERATION – a contemporary Chinese multi-media exhibition.

Other existing creative venues within the TWT Creative Precinct include the ME Art Space located at 25 Atchison Street and Cre8tiv Studios located at 27 Atchison Street.

The newly created TWT Creative Precinct is part of a broad-based commitment by Auswin TWT to encourage and support the arts in St Leonards as an extension of the creative community that already exists.

“We are eager to have this part of the community re-energised and celebrated,” Mr Fitzpatrick added.
